Making a Murderer assignment
Answer the below questions in essay format. Use formal writing, and most importantly, use what you learned from this class—the more you can do this, the better your grade. More specifically, support your arguments with cited sources (sources can include the readings, powerpoint slides, and/or the scholarly articles you find on your own for your research paper). Use the categories/topics listed on the MM note-taking template and syllabus headings to guide you.
Answers must be typed and to answer the three main questions comprehensively, they each should be approximately 1-2 pages single-spaced. Late submissions will be docked points (the number of points will depend on how late it is)
1. Do you think Stephen Avery’s conviction for murdering Teresa Halbach was a wrongful conviction? You should provide specific reasons for your answer and support with evidence learned in this class. (It is also acceptable to be unsure about his guilt/innocence, so long as you provide reasons why you think he is guilty and reasons why you think he is innocent).
2. Do you think Brandon Dassey’s conviction for murdering Teresa Halbach was a wrongful conviction? 3. Describe what you liked and did not like about the Making a Murderer documentary. Be specific in your answer. Do you think it was fair and balanced? Why or why not?
